Abstract

Conflicts between linguistic codification and official form of Czech toponyms

The paper deals with Czech geographical names, especially street names, with a conflict between their official form, obligatory in official communication, and linguistic codification, on several different linguistic levels. The greatest attention is paid to the level of spelling, both capitalization and other spelling phenomena. Conflicts on the morphological and word-formation levels are also examined.
