This article investigates morpheme omission and substitution in agrammatic aphasia, with special focus on Czech verbal morphology. It argues that errors in tense morpheme production reflect underlying cognitive impairments in temporal reference, rather than merely linguistic simplification. The paper integrates recent linguistic theories with empirical findings, highlighting discourse context and cognitive factors as key to understanding tense deficits. It also examines the Past Discourse Linking Hypothesis (PADILIH) and cross-linguistic variability, emphasizing the complex interplay of morphosyntactic knowledge and temporal cognition in agrammatic speech. The work provides a theoretical foundation for further linguistic and cognitive research on temporal processing deficits in Czech agrammatic aphasia.
