Petr Hruška Cruising Contemporary Czech Poetry
Petr Hruška’s collection of poems Spatřil jsem svou tvář is a reaction to the text from the 16th century – the report of the Italian noble man Antonio Pigafetta on his experience from the discovery voyage of the Portuguese explorer Magalhães. The second section of the collection is based on a fictive dialogue with Pigafetta and on evaluation of his report. This section builds on and complements the introductory section composed of 40 shorter poems evoking adventurous spirit of the cruise to exotic countries.
