Executive functions are a construct which is an important component of cognition and learning. The paper introduces and gives characteristics of a mathematical programme designed to stimulate executive functions. The programme is intended for socially disadvantaged pupils and has been developed within the APVV research project scheme. The program of stimulation utilises mathematical tasks and is structured in three dimensions: (1) the aspect of the stimulated executive function, (2) the aspect of the focus of the mathematical task, (3) the aspect of metacognitive analysis of the task.
