Nowadays, it is not uncommon for children as early as preschool age to show an interest in reading and written language. Above all, they are aware of various signs, printed text, posters, and they already know the concept of printed text - they can recognise the beginning and the end of a book, they know where to start reading, in which direction, and so on. Here we can talk about the so-called reading preliteracy (basic literacy, early literacy, etc.) in preschool age, which develops not only in kindergarten, but an important element is also a favourable cultural family environment. By this we mean non-absentee book material, reading by parents or other family members, text-related activities, etc. In spite of all this, there are children in kindergarten (despite the stimulating family environment) who do not show interest in the subject area, even in the period before entering primary school. As part of the project "Promoting Pre-literacy in Pre-school Education (SC1)", we have focused on this target group of children, for whom we have aimed to promote their interest in written language through action research activities.
